The Interactive Simulation Functionality
In a world dominated by Ethernet technology, it may be hard to believe that there are other MAC protocols of comparable or perhaps better efficiency, but there are. One such MAC protocol is Token Ring. Token Ring is worth discussing because unlike Ethernet, Token Ring doesn't need the extra functionality that Ethernet employs to detect packet collisions. This document will outline the basic functionality of the Token Ring protocol, as well as describe the features of an interactive simulation tool that will give a quick and simple understanding of the protocol, to an individual unfamiliar with the technologies implementation.
