IPv6

IPv6 (IP Version 6) is the "Next "Generation" of the Internet Protocol that will solve the problem of depleting network addresses by extending IP addresses from 32 to 128 bits.  There is no direct comparison between IPv6 and NAT, except for the relation that NAT is delaying the implementation of IPv6.

 Advantages of IPv6:

bullet

larger address space

bullet

efficient and extensible IP datagram

bullet

efficient route computation and aggregation

bullet

improved host and router discovery

bullet

mandated new stateless and stateful address auto configuration

bullet

mandated security for IP datagrams

bullet

easy renumbering
