Overlay and P2P Systems: Protocols and Applications - 11/09/2002
Overlay systems can be used to deploy a wide-range of sophisticated
applications such as scalable media streaming and scalable information
retreival and lookup services without requiring modification to the
underlying
network infrastructure. This new generation of scable P2P systems is based
on
some underlying P2P protocols and overlay topology construction algorithms.
One such is Distributed Hash Tables(DHT). The DHT functionality is proving
to be a useful substrate for large distributed overlay systems and an
integral
part of the P2P landscape. I will be going over some of these DHT operations
as discussed in the NGC tutorial.
